Holistic: Centres around the whole individual and their mind, body, and spirit/soul. Focusing on the individual's physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual journeys. Also about working with the individual and where they are presently and how they show up in their lives, not where the practitioner wants them to be.
Integrated: Blending a mixture of creative arts practices together for a therapeutic manner. Such as painting and a bit of journalling afterwards (or whatever the individual chooses) and seeing what may come up.
Creative: Any form of creativity that encourages the individual to tap into their intuition and imagination. It’s not at all about being an ‘artist’ or ‘good’ at art. There’s absolutely no artistic skill required. It’s about trusting the process and being open whatever may come out for the individual.
Arts: Various creative practices taken on in a therapeutic manner. Including painting, drawing, crafting, sculpture, storytelling, writing, sand play, music, drama, movement/dance, or any other activity that embraces creativity for the individual. It’s all about the experience for the individual, not the end result.
Therapy: A therapeutic process tailored to the individual to guide them through various creative arts practices to encourage healing, self-discovery, and happier and healthier wellbeing. It’s not about the practitioner giving the therapy. It’s about the practitioner giving the individual a safe space to process what it is they need.
Holistic Creative Integrated Creative Arts Therapy (HICAT) is a practice that can help anyone, but in particular: individuals struggling with stress, individuals with PTSD, individuals with mental health issues such as anxiety and depression, neurodivergent individuals, highly sensitive individuals, children who are struggling socially and having behaviour issues, individuals with dementia, or individuals with a brain injury, or individuals with other health conditions such as cancer.
This type of therapy helps by reducing stress and anxiety, improving mood, strengthening cognitive function, building self esteem, gaining self awareness, assisting with socialising and social skills, managing and releasing intense emotions, improving communication skills, reduces isolation, encouraging emotional resilience, and can also just be for fun and to embrace freedom. It is a mindful practice that gives the individual the opportunity to stay in the present moment instead of tapping into the past and future.
It's not about getting advice. It is not about being exposed, analysed, or judged. It is not about being 'fixed'. It is not about revisiting the past. It is a practice to help individuals feel in control and empowered in their own lives, and guiding them to look inside themselves to find their own outcome, solutions, and answers in order to move forward.
If you are feeling stressed, burned out, overwhelmed, struggling with anxiety, self worth, self love, other personal struggles, or even just want to have some fun and create, then I am happy to help!
When working one on one with me, I will provide you a safe and non judgemental space for you to come as you are and create. I have a list of activities we could try out together (such as a The Magic Within You, Gratitude Tree, Intuition Painting, Drawing Yourself as a tree/animal, Draw Your Sanctuary, Life Bubbles Exercise, etc.). Or we can just go with the flow a bit and draw, paint, journal, colour in, collage, or use clay; you're welcome to engage in any art materials you choose! We can also do a body relaxation exercise and some YouTube guided meditations to open and close the sessions if you wish. Please note that I mainly specialise in the visual arts side of HICAT. But I am happy to chat to you about your needs if you are after something else such as movement or music practices.
During these sessions, we can look into what it is that has brought you here and what it is you hope to work through. It's okay if you are unsure or don't have an end goal as yet - you don't even have to have an end goal! We all have our struggles and we all deserve support. So whatever it is that has led you here, I am here to hold and support you during the light, the shadows, and in between. I am happy to continue the journey with you for as long or as little as you need - it is all up to you as I want you to feel in control of your healing journey, I am just here as a guide.
As I said on my home page, I specialise in working with women, neurodivergent individuals, highly sensitive people, and also inner child work. In saying that, I am open to individuals from many different walks of life, so you're welcome to enquire and we will see if we are a good fit.
I currently offer one one one sessions and I will also offer group workshops from time to time. I am currently offering online sessions (Google Meet), but I can also do in person sessions by prior arrangement. With group workshops, I will offer both online and some in person events at various venues such as a park or community centres around Melbourne's South East - those will be announced separately in group events.
Please note that I have the right to refuse your service if I feel we are not a good fit. I will ensure to refer you if that is the case. Also, if you find that you no longer align with me and my services, that is no problem at all and you are welcome to terminate our services at any time.
Please also note that because I am not an 'Art Therapist' who has done a Master's, I am not registered with ANZACATA, and I am not able to offer any NDIS funded sessions due to this. I am a Holistic Integrated Creative Arts Therapist Practitioner registered with IICT (International Institute of Complimentary Therapists). It is a certified practitioner qualification (through Mind Body Education), but not the same as a traditional Art Therapist. Many thanks for your understanding.
In terms of cancellations, I’m a very flexible person and I’m happy to work with you if you need to reschedule. But please make sure to give me at least 12 hours notice. I won’t reschedule or refund those who don’t show up or cancel at the very last minute unless it’s an emergency situation or have a reasonable explanation. However, after the third time in a row, I will not allow your business. Payment must be made prior to the session via PayPal or Bank Transfer.
All services remain confidential unless there is any indication of harm towards yourself or others. All services are tailored to each individual needs. I am not here to analyse your artwork, there is no 'right' or 'wrong' to creating. It is not my job to give advice or tell you what the 'right thing' is. It is my job to guide you towards enriching and improving your life and to show up for yourself however that may be for you. You just need to have an open heart and an open mind and the willing to do the healing and inner work.
Thank you and I look forward to hearing from you soon.
